37 Weeks

A few people online and in real life have been asking me if I am bigger this pregnancy then last time. As we were in the UK, I didn't see anyone last time I was pregnant. However, I am not so sure. Hubby thinks I am bigger this time. I certainly feel like it. In fact, I feel like a beached whale. I found some photos from last pregnancy which only confirms that I am MUCH bigger this time then last time. Oh.My.God how can I grow so much bigger in the next few weeks?

I am measuring 2 weeks ahead at the moment. I am hoping this does not mean anything as we really don't need anymore birthdays in April. I am not ready either. There is so much still to do. I am definitely feeling slight tightness in the tummy, sciatica in my legs and the occasional pain so who knows when this baby will come.

Let's hope it is not before Sunday. It is hubby's birthday on Sunday and we are off out for a dinner to Aria Restuarant courtesy of hubby's bosses.

What do you think? Am I bigger then last time?

Beached Whale

When I was in high school I had to write a piece about a whale. It didn't matter what the story was about, it just had to include a whale. I wrote about a beached whale. I was the beached whale in my creative writing piece. I am that beached whale now. I roll out of bed at stupid o'clock to do my first or second toilet stop and it takes me about 10 minutes to move so it doesn't hurt. Then it takes me another 10 minutes to straighten up and get my pelvis organised before I can walk. At times, I feel like it is going to fall out. Oh the pain. I am spending a lot of time lately watching Oliver in the comfort of a chair.
I do try to keep him as entertained as possible as the poor guy is very sensitive at the moment. Today was out first full day at home in ages and I think he enjoyed himself. I think he got every kitchen utensil out of the cupboards and into the backyard to do some water play. Oh the fun and joy. It amused him for hours so I didn't mind as I managed to get myself doing a bit of 'nesting'. But God, I feel it now. Nesting is a new concept to me. I did not nest at all with Oliver. Instead, we moved house. Babies clothes are now laundered and put away and the house is nice and tidy {well almost}.
I am over 32 weeks pregnant now and feel every little bit of it. Is it a girl or a boy? That is the question and would probably resolve a lot of fighting over names.

29 Weeks

Wowey. Time is flying by now. I can't get over how quick actually. The first few months dragged on and on and on. Now, I am in my 29th week without blinking an eyelid. However, I am certainly getting ready for this baby to come out with all the pain I am suffering this time around. My pelvis feels like it is going to drop far into the sky and never coming back. Standing up from sitting on the floor is such a routine for me and I even have to get the little man to help me up. He is such a little champion and going to make the best big brother a little baby could dream of. He kisses my tummy or should I say blows raspberries and then falls into a stupor of giggles. So cute.

Life as a whale living in Sydney is so different to being a whale and living in England at this time of the year. The heat is exhausting and not to mention hot when you are carrying an extra couple {or more} kilos of weight around and everynow and again having to carry a 13.5kg toddler on my hip. Oh the joys. I feel like I am 80 sometimes and look forward to the day the baby comes out {most probably from the side entrance this time around}. Though, when this said baby finally arrives, I will probably wishing it was back in me as we still are not organised, we still want to move and we still have no name.

Yes, it is driving me batty and everytime we have the conversation, I end up in tears. Oliver has opted for the baby to be called Oliver 2, thanks to his Daddy suggesting this. Hopefully we will come to an agreement soon and god hope we don't want to try for baby number 3 because that poor child will end up nameless I am sure.

23 Weeks

23 weeks and counting. This pregnancy is definitely harder then the last. I don't think I do much chasing of Oliver but I guess not getting any me time doesn't help to recharge the batteries.

I have pain in my groin and hip again. I feel like I will need a hip replacement anytime soon and the leg cramps..... OMG.... you know those really horrible leg cramps you get in your sleep? I am getting those. They are so not fun.

I guess I am 3 years older now so pregnancy is not agreeing with me as much as last time. I am just so god damn dog tired as well it is not funny. Sometimes I have to force Oliver to have a day sleep just so I can get 40 winks as well.

I had a check up this week and all was well. I have to return in 5 weeks for another check up and to have another diabetes test. Oh Joy Joy.

19 Weeks

What a week this has been and right before Christmas. It couldn't be any worse really for timing. However, all is good on the baby and mummy front.

I had my diabetes test last week which involved following a special diet for 3 days and then fasting for 9 hours. That morning, I had to fight with the peak hour traffic to get to the hospital as early as possible which included dropping Oliver off at my sisters on the way. I got there just after 9am. *please hope I don't go into labour at that time of the day*. So, I had a blood test, the drank every single drop of a 300ml glucose drink then sit and wait for an hour. Another blood test and another one hour wait and then another blood test, I was then allowed to go and eat. Thank god!

No news is good news, right? So, I am guessing they can cross that off their list of why I had a big baby last time. Apparently mothers with big babies could have diabetes.

Today I had my 19 week ultra sound. I have no good pictures of the baby but he / she looks more like a skeleton then anything anyway. We did have to go away and have a coffee as the baby was sound asleep and wouldn't budge (that will all change when he / she is born, I am safe in saying if Oliver is anything to go by). Finally, they got a good look at the babys heart and everything else and was given the all clear.

Next appointment is 9th January.

And my new hair cut.

18 Weeks

This week and next week are so busy with appiointments. What bad timing to be pregnant, just before Christmas and you have so many other things to tend to.

Monday started with an appointment with the obs at the hospital. Firstly, I waited for a while but was also with the doctor for a long time. I felt so much better about birthing again after speaking to her. She gave me options so things won't go wrong like they did last time. I will be monitored closer towards the end which I am relieved about.

As Oliver was such a big baby, I will have to undertaken the diabetes test which I am doing this Friday. I have to follow a carbs diet for three days before hand and then fast the night before. Then, I have to sit in the waiting room of the hospital for 2 hours before I can have a blood test, leave and finally eat something. Thank god for sisters living near by as well who don't mind baby sitting and can get the time off work.

Next week I have to have my 19 week scan which I am looking forward to. It is going to be a struggle to get there at 9.30 in the morning though with a little one in tow though. My sister works for a medical company so she is organising for me to have a 4d scan after Christmas. That should be good but I hope it doesn't reveal the gender.

Christmas is definitely in the air. I love this time of the year. It makes it all the more exciting with a 2.5 year old.

16 Weeks

My god, the heat is exausting already. How will I cope through February, the hottest month of the year. Being pregnant and my first summer for 6 + years in Australia is going to make it a very tough time. But if that is all I can complain about then I am a happy woman.

Nothing major this week to report on the pregnancy only that it is the only slowest pregnancy in history, so I am going to talk about Christmas. I am gearing up for Christmas and I can't wait. My shopping is almost over. I have hubby to buy for and a few odds and bobs. My plan is to finish this weekend before December 1st comes on Tuesday. All I can say is, Oliver is going to be one lucky boy. I will post some pictures of the things he will be getting over the weekend. I just have to finish his santa stocking and I am trying to make them things that will get used and not thrown on the floor and forgotten about.

Decorations and the tree will be going up this weekend as well. How exciting. Christmas has never been this much fun. Having a 2.5 year old makes it like being a child again. I have ordered the Christmas cards, started organising the advent calendar for Oliver and written up my Christmas list.

It is definitely starting to feel a lot like Christmas (and pregnancy and summer).

Week 15

I am still so tired. I don't remember being this tired with Oliver. God, I could sleep all day if I could and I feel so lazy. The heat is making things tougher as well. I am definitely not going to get used to this hot summer with a baby belly as I didn't have to worry about it last time.

Time is going so slowly. I am only 15 weeks, it feels like 15 years. I know I shouldn't be wishing the pregnancy along but I just wish my tummy would get big enough so it looks like I am pregnant and not just looking like I have put on some weight.

I bought my first few maternity items and I am determined to get my swimmers before the summer has finished. I am tossing up between a few pairs that are all in America and of course the postage is nearly as expensive as the swimmers but at least the exchange rate is looking good at the moment.

On other non baby news, I am determined to finish off my Christmas shopping this weekend and all online! Got to love the internet.

14 Weeks

Today I am 14 weeks pregnant. God the time has gone so slow. I kept it a secret until 12 weeks and that seemed like an eternity. I am feeling great, just really really tired. What's new? Luckily my parents have been down for the last 4 weeks so that has been a big help and we had a week's holiday when I was newly pregnant.
I have had a little big of morning sickness but nothing to write home about. I had none with Oliver but I could count on 4 fingers the number of times, I felt sick and usually it was self inflicted where I didn't eat breakfast straight away or had my vitamins before eating breakfast.
Names are already posing a problem for us. As usual. There is one name we both like and one name I love but hubby doesn't. God, I have to work on him to like it, I really do because the name we both have on our list is slowly but surely coming down my list. The thing is, this time I get final say of the name but both parties need to like the name. I think he is doing this on purpose, not liking any of my names so in actual fact, he is getting final say.
Girls names are not a problem, we have that sorted. So, maybe I better just have a girl! If there is any one out there good with coming up with boys names, please let me know.
