Happy 3rd Birthday Oliver

Dear Oliver

Oh.My.God. Did I say 3rd birthday? How time has gone so quickly. You are definitely the sunshine of my eye. You have adjusted to living in Australia so easily. It was like you were meant for it. You love the beach, you love the sand, you love the waves. The bigger the better in fact. You are a bit of a dare devil at time but you do love to sit back and take it all in when meeting new people or doing something new.

You started school in February. At the moment you go one day a week and although there were tears to start with, you do love going. You particularly love your teacher, Heather and she too seems to love you. You always talk so fondly of her and give her big smiles when you see her. You have made a few friends there as well and I am sure you will meet more now you have transfer into the big kids room which is for 3-5 year olds.

You have regular play dates with Maddison and Danielle so you get a bit of fun dressing up and playing with all the 'pink' things that Daddy doesn't approve of. You do love to push the baby in the pram there and do lots of cooking. However, nothing is better then getting outside and either playing with water or digging in the garden and playing with your trucks and diggers.

From a very young age, you showed the same interest in cars as does your Daddy. Instead of saying there is a green car, red car, yellow car. You say, there is a mazda 3, there is a land rover discovery, there is a toyota corolla or that car is just like yours Mummy, crappy! If you see a car transporter or a cement mixer go passed, you want Mummy to chase it or go passed it again. I tell you, I am learning alot about cars, tractors and everything else that makes a lot of noise. You are not a fan of motor bikes since one day the postman scared you but I am not at all bothered that you are scared of them.

You talk non stop. You love to talk and the bigger the words the better. You love to say actually, eventually, apparently etc in a sentence even if it doesn't quite go right but usually you get it right. You can count to 20 but you usually go 11, 12 13, 15, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, and twelveteen. So cute but I love it. You can also say the alphabet thanks to the book Dr Suess ABC that Aunty Diz bought you.

You love arts and crafts. Sticking, gluing, pasting, painting anything messy you love. Maybe you will take after Mummy's Nanny and be a bit of an artist in your spare time. You love love love doing jig saw puzzles and reading books. You even memorise a lot of books which totally surprises your Mummy and Daddy.

You enjoy swimming lessons especially the fun bits like diving in, going under water and blowing bubbles. Often your swimming teacher says your in dream land but you do get sick of going up and down kicking and paddling but I get sick of hearing 'Oliver, where are those toes'. You are getting better at it and only have a back floatie on these days. You especially love the lollies after swimming and often you yell out 'Mummy, when am I going to get my lollies' when your still in your lesson.

Play school is your favourite TV show right now. You love listening to the songs and music. What a shame your Mummy is not very good at it but I do try. You also love Chuggington, The Wiggles and Rory the Racing Car.

'Gobnaise' or should I say spaghetti bolognaise is your favourite food. A close second and third would be sausages and rissoles. You have also only recently discovered chocolate which you also love but of course, only in moderation.
You recently had your first overnight stay at your Aunty's place and stayed all night without Mummy. This was the first night away from Mummy. Ever. And how weird it was for me. Daddy has had a few nights away from you before so it wasn't so weird for him. You had a great time at your Aunty's and you do enjoy going there most weekends. Thank god they don't live too far away as you always like to visit them.

You still have a day time sleep every now and again. Usually when you do have one, it is for 2 hours so you are up till 9 o'clock at night which is fine by us as Daddy gets some time with you before you go to bed. You especially love to help Daddy put his car in the garage and helping him open the garage door.

What a joy these last 3 years have been. You are a little gem and I love you dearly. You are already making a wonderful brother to Felix {who you love to kiss} and you make a great son. I love you and I love the hugs and kisses you give me even if they are sometimes too early in the morning!

Happy 3rd Birthday Oliver. We love you and hope you have a great day.
