Bling Bling

When we moved into this house, we moved only 4 days before Oliver arrived. It was over a weekend. My parents arrived from Australia for the impending arrival of their grandson, jetlagged and tired and they had to help us unpack. We went from a 1.5 bedroom flat to a 3 bedroom house and we had no storage. Things just got thrown anywhere for a later date. Earlier this week I was trying to find an item of clothing that I couldn't find and I found these little beauties, all of which were given to me by my husbands lovely 92 year old grand mother. She loves her antique jewellery and is constantly buying new things. Her safe is full to the brim. Over the years, she has given me some pieces.

This is my favourite, I love it. It is a delicate little pendant with some amethysts which is one of my favourite stones. It looks great against a black top and I might just have to wear it on my girls night out in a few weeks.

This brooch is a cute little number. I have never worn it though, I do like it but I kind of forget about it (obviously, as it hasn't come out of the cupboard since we moved 17 months ago).

These rings were the first things that Granny Kit gave me. They are probably not worth much but when she gave them to me I felt so loved. I don't think these are family heirlooms, just pieces that she has bought over the years and are definitely antique. This one is a cluster of small diamonds that make a larger diamond shape.

This little number has been worn on my hand since I brushed the dust of them earlier this week. I think it is beautiful ruby ring with small diamonds all around it.

The one below is my engagement ring. This one just blew me away. It has so much family meaning and so sentimental, I couldn't believe Alastair's grand mother and father trust me with it. It has been in the family for many years and has a lovely story behind it. It was a gift to Alastair's great grand mother or great great grand mother (I can never remember) on her 25th wedding anniversary. All of these pieces will be travelling back to Australia with me and I hope that one day I will be able to pass them on to a future daughter and the little monkey's wife (scary).

Now I have to start adding what else we are taking back to Australia with us as I am going to get quotes soon. God, more money we don't have.
