Moving to a Big Boys Bed

Now that he is over two, I keep wondering if I should move Oliver to a big boys bed. I have mixed feelings about this and sometimes I think it is a good idea and others not. I usually think the latter after he has woken through the night and wants out. The poor prisoner is still in sleeping bags. Am I a bad mumma?

I am after something kind of sophistcated but still a little boys room. I am yet to find the one I truly love. On my search, I did find some gorgeous little girls bedding though. Oh to dream. I do kind of like some of these below but don't quite love the price tags. We can't win them all, can we? I am tossing up between alternating between doonas or getting bedspreads. What do you think and if you know where I can get either, please drop me a line.

Or should I pop down to my local ikea, big w, target or k mart and buy one off the shelf, keep the money and buy myself one. Oh decisions decisions. Or should I do both?

Renovation Central

Apart from learning how to be a Mummy and getting to know Oliver, we have been busy with our home renovations this year which we only moved in to 5 days before Oliver arrived. We did a quick paint and new flooring throughout to make it clean and tidy for the arrival of a new addition to our little nest egg. We also moved the bathroom upstairs as the only one was downstairs and attached to the kitchen, which will soon become the laundry / utility room with a toilet and shower. We replaced the roof which cost a fortune, replaced the boiler and then have just added small touches to make it look more a liveable home like adding new light fittings, replacing curtains, adding built in wardrobes and tiling the hall way just to name a few. We have probably the most important thing left to go and that is the kitchen and laundry / utility room which is on the agenda for the next few months. I am spending a lot of my time getting quotes, getting ideas and making sure we are doing the right thing with the pokey little space we have. I am hoping that it will be all systems go in August so that we can have everything complete by the end of the year. It is costing us a small fortune but we are being very thrifty with the little money we have left and thank goodness for knowing some of the right people who have trade cards which gives a nice discount. Hopefully the prices of property start to increase soon so that we can sell and make a little bit of money like we did on the flat and we have some equity to put some money down on a deposit on a place in Australia. So, this is the best room in the house....... Oliver's room!! Isn't he a lucky little boy?
