A name is everything, it is so important to get the name right for your child. They are stuck with it for the rest of their lives. People love to give their opinions on your childs names, even your own family. When Felix was born my mother said "oh we will get used to it" and my sister said "what happened to the other names you had chosen when you had Oliver?". Even hubby is not completely convinved. Well he wasn't convinced, I am not game to ask him how he feels about it now. But it is too late, we have the birth certificate already! So why did we choose Felix. Or why did I pick Felix? The answer is easy.
Oliver is latin. I wanted another latin name to go with it. I had my heart set on it. No other origin would do. If we had a girl, her name was going to be of French origin. Go figure.
The meaning of Oliver is energetic, good natured and peaceful. Our eldest little man is all of these mixed into one little bundle of joy {most of the time} so I wanted a little man to go with my Oliver. Felix is a perfect fit. His name means happy and fortunate. I do hope he is both of these things. How perfect would that be to have good natured, peaceful, happy and fortunate children?
I love names with X's in them. Hot on my list of other options were Dexter, Lennox and Xavier.
His middle name, Walker, is also my fathers middle name which was once a surname. It is so nice to have a little family tradition in our family as my surname is never going to be carried on as I don't have any brothers. Oliver also has a middle name carried on from Alastair's family, Heaton, which was also once a surname.
I was hesitant for some time worrying we had made the right decision about the name Felix but I love the name more and more each day and no other name would have done for him. He suits the name Felix and who cares what other people think.
